Thomas Duane Arnold (born March 6, 1959) is an actor and comedian from the United States. He is most recognized for his roles on Roseanne (1989–1993), The Jackie Thomas Show (1992–1993), and The Tom Show (1997–1998).

Tom Arnold was born in Ottumwa, Iowa in 1959 to Jack and Linda Arnold. He is one of seven siblings who grew raised Jewish. Arnold and his siblings were raised by their father after his mother abandoned the family when he was a child.

He attended Ottumwa High School before transferring to Indian Hills Community College. He studied writing and business administration at the University of Iowa from 1981 and 1983. Arnold’s career in show business began in the early 1980s with “Tom Arnold and the Goldfish Review,” a prop-based comedic performance.

Arnold made his cinematic debut in 1991’s “Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare,” a horror sequel. Following that, he starred in “Backfield in Motion,” “Hero,” “Undercover Blues,” and the made-for-television films “Body Bags” and “The Woman Who Loved Elvis,” which also starred Roseanne Barr. In the James Cameron action comedy “True Lies,” Arnold played the sidekick of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character. “Nine Months,” with Hugh Grant, Julianne Moore, Robin Williams, and Jeff Goldblum; “Big Bully,” with Rick Moranis; “Carpool,” with David Paymer; the adventure comedy “The Stupids”; and an adaptation of the military comedy television series “McHale’s Navy” were among his late-90s film credits.

Arnold appeared in films such as “Animal Factory,” “Just Sue Me,” “Exit Wounds,” “Cradle 2 the Grave,” “National Lampoon’s Barely Legal,” and “Soul Plane” in the early 2000s. “Happy Endings,” a 2005 ensemble cast picture starring Lisa Kudrow, Steve Coogan, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Laura Dern, and others, was the actor’s first romantic major role. Arnold also produced, wrote, and starred in “The Kid & I” in 2005. Following that, he appeared in films such as “Homo Erectus,” “Pride,” “Game of Life,” “Palo Alto,” “The Final Season,” “Good Dick,” “Remarkable Power,” and others. Tyler Perry’s “Madea’s Witness Protection,” the action comedy “Hit and Run,” the comedy “Dumbbells,” the drama “The Curse of Downers Grove,” and the comedy “Dumbbells” were among his film credits in the 2010s.
