Stacey Yvonne Abrams (born December 9, 1973) is an American politician, lawyer, voting rights activist, and author who served as minority leader of the Georgia House of Representatives from 2011 to 2017. Abrams, a member of the Democratic Party, formed Fair Fight Action in 2018 to combat voting suppression. Her efforts as a voting rights activist have been widely credited with increasing voter turnout in Georgia, including in the 2020 presidential election, when Joe Biden narrowly won the state, and the regular and special U.S. Senate elections in Georgia in 2020–2021, which gave Democrats control of the Senate.
