Molly Yeh was born in Glenview, Illinois, on May 22, 1988. Both of her parents, John Bruce Yeh and Jody Yeh, have a musical background, having played clarinet as children. Her father is also the founder and director of Chicago Pro Musica, where he also works.

Molly has a younger half-sister, Mia, and an older sister, Jenna. Jenna, like Molly, is a cook.

 

Molly grew up in Chicago before moving to New York City to study percussion at Juilliard. She also attended Glenbrook South High School and Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, where she participated in two percussion ensembles.

Molly’s love for food grew during her time in New York. She created her own lifestyle blog “mynameisyeh.com”. She created her blog while on vacation in 2009 but did not take it seriously until she moved with her husband in 2013. After that, she realized that she could make blogging part of her career.

Her blog is recognized by Saveur and Yahoo as “Food Blog of the Year”. Her works have also been featured on several publications like the New York Times, Food & Wine, New York Magazine, and Bon Appetit. In addition to that, she has also contributed to Vanity Fair, Saveur, Food52, and Conde Nast Traveler.

Molly’s first book, “Molly on the Range: Recipes and Stories from an Unlikely Life on a Farm,” was released in 2016. In 2017, she won the IACP Cookbook Award for Judges’ Choice for that book. Her book was also named one of the top fall releases of 2016 by the New York Times. She presently hosts the Food Network show “Girl Meets Farm.”
