Early Life
Andre Rene Roussimoff, a Frenchman, was born May 19, 1946 in Coulommiers (Seine-et-Marne), France. Andre was born to four siblings and weighed 13 pounds when he was born. As a child, Roussimoff displayed some mathematical skills. He then graduated from secondary school and worked on his father’s farm. Samuel Beckett was also a close friend during the 1950s. Andre was unhappy with manual labor and eventually left to move to Paris when he was 18.
Career
He was trained by a local promoter to be a professional wrestler after he arrived in Paris. He met a Canadian promoter in 1966. This was to become his business manager, and advisor. Andre the Giant was a worldwide phenomenon from that point forward, mostly fighting in the WWF. He made his debut in 1973 and went on to be the WWF champion, while also establishing rivalries alongside a variety of other notable wrestlers. Hulk Hogan and Jake Roberts were just a few of the many notable wrestlers he fought with.
