
Alyssa Michelle Stephens (born December 22, 1998) is an Atlanta, Georgia-based rapper known professionally as Latto (previously known as Mulatto). She made her first appearance on the reality television show The Rap Game in 2016, when she won the first season as Miss Mulatto.
After releasing her single “Bitch from da Souf” in 2019, Latto signed with RCA Records. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 2020, reaching at number 95. It was accompanied by a remix by rappers Saweetie and Trina. In 2020, Latto released the follow-up track “Muwop,” which featured Gucci Mane. Both tracks were platinum-certified and featured on Latto’s debut album Queen of da Souf, which was released in August 2020. “Big Energy” marked Latto’s mainstream breakthrough.
777 is her second studio album’s lead single (2022). The song was Latto’s highest-charting single to date, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
At the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards, Latto was nominated for Best New Hip Hop Artist, while at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, she was nominated for Top Rap Female Artist. She was named to the XXL Freshman Class of 2020. She was nominated MTV’s Global Push Artist of the Month in February 2021.
